Travel Info & Practical Notes.

Everything we'd want to know before driving up — directions, what to pack, signal, supplies, medical, and cross-border.

Getting here

Navigate to the verified camp pin rather than a town-centre estimate. The final route and road condition can change, so check live navigation before departure and ask the camp about the last approach if weather has been severe.

  • GPS: -22.38973, 29.39098
  • Plus Code: 5G9FJ96R+32 · Postal: 0909
  • Mapungubwe main gate: roughly 20–25 km; allow about 30 minutes
  • Alldays: roughly 50–55 km; allow about 60–70 minutes

Mobile signal & WiFi

Guest WiFi is offered, but speed and coverage can vary. Mobile coverage also depends on network, device and location. If connectivity is essential for work, ask for a current test from the exact accommodation before booking.

  • Guest WiFi available
  • No minimum speed is promised
  • Confirm coverage for the allocated unit
  • Keep an offline copy of directions and booking details

Power, water & load-shedding

Power, water and backup arrangements must be confirmed for the accommodation allocated to your booking. Bring a charged torch and power bank, and do not assume that air conditioning, WiFi or every socket will remain live during an outage.

  • Ask what backup power covers
  • Ask whether drinking water is supplied
  • Bring a torch and power bank
  • Follow on-site water and outage instructions

What to pack

Northern Limpopo can be very hot, while winter nights can be cool. Check the forecast for your exact dates. Closed shoes, sun protection, insect repellent and a torch are practical in a rural bushveld setting.

  • Light long-sleeved shirts (thorns + sun + insects)
  • Closed walking shoes / boots
  • Warm layer for cool-season mornings and nights
  • Headtorch or hand torch (essential)
  • Binoculars if wildlife observation is part of your plans
  • Insect repellent (mosquitoes are present)
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Swimsuit (the pool is a treat after a long day)

Essentials & supplies

Self-catering options are available, while meals may be arranged in advance. Confirm the kitchen and braai facilities of the allocated unit and buy essential supplies before the final rural leg of the journey.

  • Musina: larger regional service centre; allow roughly 1½ hours
  • Alldays: roughly 50–55 km; allow 60–70 minutes
  • Confirm what the allocated kitchen includes
  • Arrange meals, wood or charcoal before arrival if required

Medical, safety & wildlife

Low-altitude Limpopo near Zimbabwe is a recognised malaria-risk area, with risk varying by season. Use bite prevention and seek current advice from South African health authorities or a travel-health professional. This is a rural property: keep personal medication and suitable travel insurance with you, and supervise children around water, fires and wildlife.

  • Use repellent and other bite-prevention measures
  • Confirm current medical facilities before travel
  • Carry personal medication and emergency details
  • Follow all on-site wildlife and after-dark instructions

Cross-border (Zimbabwe & Botswana)

Beitbridge is roughly 95–100 km from camp via Musina; allow about 1¾–2 hours for the drive before adding border-queue time. Border requirements, operating arrangements and road conditions can change, so use the relevant official authority for current information.

  • Beitbridge drive: about 1¾–2 hours before queues
  • Mapungubwe main gate: about 30 minutes
  • Verify every border document requirement independently
  • Carry offline copies of route and booking information
