This page explains how Kudu Rest Camp (run by Henri Van Vuuren as the Responsible Party under POPIA) handles your personal information when you contact us, enquire about a stay, or visit kudurestcamp.com.
Who we are
Kudu Rest Camp, situated on Ostrolenka Farm in Limpopo, South Africa. You can reach us on 082 428 3175, by WhatsApp on 082 428 3175, or by email at kudurestcamp@gmail.com.
What information we collect
- Enquiries: name, email, phone number, dates, group size, and the notes you choose to send through the enquiry form, WhatsApp, or email.
- Bookings: the above plus proof-of-payment for deposits and balance settlement.
- Hunting / firearm guests: the documents required for SAPS or temporary import permits — passport details, firearm details, and itinerary. Handled in line with the relevant South African Police Service procedures.
- Website analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which collects no cookies and no personal identifiers — only aggregate page-view and referrer counts.
- Server logs: our hosting (Cloudflare) keeps short-lived request logs containing IP addresses and user agents for the standard purpose of security and debugging.
Why we collect it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange your stay.
- To take payment and issue invoices.
- To meet our legal obligations (e.g. firearm import documentation, guest registers required by law).
- To understand which pages of our site are useful so we can improve them.
What we don't do
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with marketers, advertisers, or any third party for their own use. We do not run a newsletter. We do not use targeted advertising cookies on this site.
Who has access
- Henri and the on-site Kudu Rest Camp staff who need it to run your stay.
- Our payment provider (your bank or card processor like Yoco), only for the transaction itself.
- Resend (resend.com), which delivers enquiry emails from this website to our inbox.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site and provides aggregate analytics.
- SARS, SAPS, or other authorities where required by South African law.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't turn into bookings: up to 12 months, then deleted. Booking and payment records: retained for 5 years to meet tax and accounting requirements. Firearm and hunting documentation: retained for the period required by the relevant authorities.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it (subject to legal retention requirements). Email kudurestcamp@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Cookies
This site uses no advertising or tracking cookies. It uses small, anonymous browser storage only to remember your preferred state for things like reduced-motion. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies.

If we materially change how we handle personal information we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
