Musina & Alldays

Musina & Alldays

The two towns that anchor the Limpopo border region.

Musina for supplies and the border run. Alldays for a quieter farmstall stop. Both within 45 minutes.

Kudu Rest Camp sits between two very different Limpopo towns. Musina is the busy border town — the last stop before Beitbridge and Zimbabwe, and where you'll find supermarkets, fuel, pharmacies, and every working contractor within 200 km. Alldays is the opposite: quiet, bushveld-farming country, with a single main street and a farmstall that still makes its own boerewors.

Musina — for supplies & logistics

About 40 minutes from camp. Full retail centres (Shoprite, Spar, PEP), several fuel stations, car service, four major banks, pharmacies, and Musina Hospital. If you're running a long-stay project, Musina is where the weekly shop happens — plan for it to take 90 minutes in traffic. The town is also the jumping-off point for the Baobab Tree of Musina, a monster specimen on the Tshipise road, and the small but worthwhile Musina Nature Reserve (R50 entry, 30 bird species on a good morning).

Beitbridge — the border reality

Beitbridge is the busiest land border crossing in southern Africa, 15 km north of Musina. On normal days it's a 60-minute formality; on SA school-holiday Fridays and Easter weekends it can be 8+ hours in a queue. If you're crossing into Zimbabwe we can advise on timing, routes, and what paperwork you'll need. Most of our guests don't cross — they come to us to rest between work north of the border.

Alldays — for the slower version

About 45 minutes in the other direction, heading west through farmland on the R521. Alldays has a handful of game farms, a small airstrip, a hardware store and the Alldays Farmstall — genuinely good boerewors rolls and homemade rusks. Worth the drive on a weekend if you want a change of scenery that isn't a border town. The nearby Blouberg range (an hour further) has classic baboon and klipspringer viewing.

Between the two — where we sit

The R572 between Musina and Alldays runs through prime bushveld country — southern yellow-billed hornbills on the fence posts, kudu and warthog at dawn, and the odd leopard crossing in the early morning. We sit midway along this corridor, on the northern edge of the Limpopo plains. From camp gate you can reach either town in under an hour, and both without touching the N1.
